Have you ever thought or even said out loud “I am not flexible enough for yoga”?
Perhaps you were thinking that your physical body is the only thing involved in yoga? In fact, here in the West it is understandable why you would think that. In social media as well as on tv and in magazine ads we are bombarded by images of air brushed uber thin, uber flexible, white women in complex yoga poses. In reality when you step into the Make Peace Yogasana Studio you’ll find ordinary people of all shapes, sizes, and ages just like you who have stepped onto the mat in an attempt to find peace in their physical bodies so they can continue to do the things they like to do in life like horseback riding, skiing, hiking, rowing the rivers etc. In the process they have found and continue to find that there is so much more to yoga than being physically flexible. Some report that yoga helps them to release stress, or improves their sleep, increases their confidence and self-worth, has improved their communication with family, friends, and co-workers, or has given them more insights into their true nature as peaceful and compassionate human beings.
So, if you think you are not flexible enough for yoga perhaps it’s not flexibility in your body that you are thinking of, but rather your mind that is being rigid in its thinking.
Be brave. Take a risk and step onto the mat. Stretch your body AND your mind with us. Modification will be made for all levels of practitioners - even first-time attendees!
